Utility workers hit by SUV on U.S. 17

On Aug. 27 at approximately 1:45 p.m., two North Carolina utility workers were struck by a Ford Explorer on U.S. 17 in Hampstead; one of them was killed. The men were employed by a Holly Springs-based company that installs fiber optic cables. They had put safety cones in the road while they tracked a cable line. The men were standing in the right turn lane prior to the fatal car accident.

More charges filed in fatal motorcycle accident

North Carolina residents might be interested to hear that more charges were filed against a 32-year-old man who was driving an SUV that hit a motorcyclist. The accident occurred on Highway 17 on Barden Street on the evening of Aug. 19.

North Carolina man sues bar after fatal DUI crash

The estate of a drunk driver killed in a fatal accident is being sued by a former North Carolina legislator who was injured in the crash. The lawsuit, which was filed on July 23, is seeking $10,000 each in punitive and compensatory damages.
