22-year-old marine killed in DWI accident

According to local North Carolina police, a 22-year-old man was struck and killed on the morning of Feb. 16. A 19-year-old driver was accused of hitting the man, who was a marine, before colliding with a tree and a utility pole while intoxicated.

North Carolina driver kills 2 men in roadside hit-and-run crash

Wake County police tracked down an accused hit-and-run driver on Feb. 13 after he allegedly fled the scene of a crash that claimed two lives. The fatal car accident took place in Garner on Interstate 40 where at least three men were trying to service vehicles stuck in a roadside ditch. A 21-year-old Kure Beach man in a Volvo reportedly drove by those men and hit two of them, leaving one dead at the scene and another suffering fatal injuries.

North Carolina car accident leaves 5 injured

A severe accident on Hope Mills Road in Fayetteville has left five people injured, two of them seriously. The three-vehicle wreck happened around 5 p.m. on Feb. 6. According to the local fire chief, first responders arrived on the scene shortly after the accident occurred and helped remove passengers from two of the vehicles by cutting them free.

North Carolina highway closed for several hours after fatal crash

On Jan. 30, a truck driver on the last leg of a cross-country trip was killed after he swerved from the roadway and overturned. According to a N.C. State Highway Patrol officer, the truck accident occurred just past exit 113 in the east lane of Interstate 40 around 6:50 a.m. The truck's driver was pronounced dead at the accident scene. A passenger who had been in the truck's sleeper compartment was transported to a local hospital. The passenger is expected to recover from his injuries. The two men had been on their way to Greensboro from California with a shipment of green tea when the accident took place.
