North Carolina truck accident results in fatality

On Behalf of | Aug 26, 2015 | Truck Accidents |

A tragic accident occurred on a North Carolina roadway on a recent Monday morning. Multiple vehicles were involved in the fatal collision. The truck accident left one person dead. Several others suffered injuries in the crash.

Police say that their investigation into the recent collision remains ongoing. Reports thus far indicate that it was approximately 9 a.m. in the morning when a vehicle became inoperative on the roadway. A commercial moving truck that was traveling in the eastbound lane apparently crashed into the stopped vehicle.

Sadly, the woman who had been driving the car that was stopped died upon impact in the accident. After the first collision, the commercial truck veered across the median in the road, crashing into two sports utility vehicles that were headed west. Three occupants from those vehicles were transported to a nearby hospital for emergency care. Two of those persons were listed in serious condition.

The moving van company owners issued a public statement in the aftermath of the truck accident. They extended their sympathy to all those affected by the incident and stated that they are committed to fully cooperating with authorities in the investigation. In North Carolina, when a person is killed in an accident due to another motorist’s negligence, his or her surviving family members sometimes choose to file a legal claim in a civil court. This allows them to seek compensation for damages that, if awarded, can be used to help pay funeral costs and other financial losses associated with the accident. Injured victims who have survived a collision are also protected under the law with the right to pursue legal action against those deemed at fault in an accident.
