According to law enforcement authorities, a 26-year-old North Carolina man is facing charges following a motor vehicle collision in which his friend died. The accident reportedly occurred on Feb. 6 just after 3 p.m. between Ayden and Grifton.

An Oct. 1 auto accident near Skinner's Bypass in Lenoir County killed an octogenarian couple and hospitalized two other people, according the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. The accident happened when the couple's vehicle, a Honda, was attempting to pull out of the parking lot of a business located next to the highway and collided with a black Dodge pickup truck.

The driver of a 2014 Hyundai from Cary, who failed to yield the right of way to the biker and caused the accident, faces charges of unsafe movement of a vehicle resulting in injury and misdemeanor death by a motor vehicle. His court date was set for Oct. 15.
