Arrest made in North Carolina fatal car accident

An arrest has been made in the hit-and-run accident on state route 321 that resulted in the death of a 53-year-old woman from Lincolnton on a recent Wednesday night. North Carolina Highway Patrol officers arrested a 33-year-old man on felony charges. The suspect was subsequently released from police custody on a $25,000 bond.

2 killed, 1 injured in North Carolina head-on collision

A head-on collision on U. S. Highway 21 in State Road left the drivers of both vehicles involved in the crash dead and a passenger in one of the vehicles with critical injuries. The fatal collision happened just before noon on April 3.

Woman dies in accident

A 20-year-old woman from North Carolina was killed in an accident that occurred at about 9:41 p.m. on March 14. The Seagrove woman was traveling on Needham Grove Road toward Robbins. The road crested into a hill where authorities say visibility is poor. According to police, as the woman's car crested the hill, she drove slightly left of center. At the same time, a 1994 Toyota 4Runner driven by a 20-year-old man from Asheboro approached. The driver hit his brakes, but his 4Runner still moved towards the woman's car. She tried to turn the vehicle away, but it was struck by the oncoming Toyota.

North Carolina troopers respond to a fatal 4-car accident

A chain-reaction crash occurred as drivers, attempting to avoid an accident, slammed on their brakes. Most of the vehicles involved either went out of control or rammed into other cars. A transport van belonging to the Twin County Disabled American Veterans Chapter in Rocky Mount was found upside down in a ditch, according to reports. A male passenger in the van died, and the 63-year-old female driver was transported to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville due to her injuries. No other drivers were hurt in this incident.

North Carolina driver kills 2 men in roadside hit-and-run crash

Wake County police tracked down an accused hit-and-run driver on Feb. 13 after he allegedly fled the scene of a crash that claimed two lives. The fatal car accident took place in Garner on Interstate 40 where at least three men were trying to service vehicles stuck in a roadside ditch. A 21-year-old Kure Beach man in a Volvo reportedly drove by those men and hit two of them, leaving one dead at the scene and another suffering fatal injuries.

Woman killed in auto-pedestrian crash during morning commute

A North Carolina woman was struck and killed by an SUV after she got out of her disabled vehicle on U.S. Highway 70 on the morning of Dec. 13. The North Carolina Highway Patrol was able to reopen one lane of the highway in Clayton during the heavy drive period of the morning commute. Other lanes of the highway remained closed for two hours.

Truck driver distracted by porn kills officer

People in North Carolina might be alarmed after they hear about the case of a truck driver in Arizona who ended up killing a police officer after he was distracted by porn on his cell phone while he was driving. The 33-year-old truck driver allegedly put his wallet over his cell phone when the crash occurred to attempt to hide his cell phone from his trucking company's dash camera.

Man facing DUI homicide charges after posting video confession

North Carolina readers may have heard the recent news regarding an Ohio drunk driver who posted a video online confessing that he had killed someone while driving under the influence. Over two months after the accident, the man was indicted by a grand jury on charges of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and aggravated vehicular homicide.

Utility workers hit by SUV on U.S. 17

On Aug. 27 at approximately 1:45 p.m., two North Carolina utility workers were struck by a Ford Explorer on U.S. 17 in Hampstead; one of them was killed. The men were employed by a Holly Springs-based company that installs fiber optic cables. They had put safety cones in the road while they tracked a cable line. The men were standing in the right turn lane prior to the fatal car accident.
