North Carolina car crash kills man and injures football player

On Behalf of | Oct 4, 2013 | Car Accidents |

According to North Carolina Highway Patrol state troopers, a Sept. 21 car crash killed one man and injured another. Both men were passengers in a Dodge Durango being driven by a third man. Police say that the driver was attempting to make a left turn and lost control of the vehicle and slid across the road and hit an electrical pole. The pole was cut in half, and live power lines fell on top of the vehicle. One passenger was pronounced dead at the car accident scene.

The injured passenger was trapped inside the Durango for over an hour and a half while energy crews worked to cut the power and emergency personnel worked on extracting the injured man. He was taken to a local hospital where he was listed as stable. The driver was not injured in the accident. Troopers are planning to meet with the district attorney to decide whether the driver will be facing charges in connection with the accident.

When someone is killed in a car accident, the family may find themselves facing emotional and financial distress. In addition to the loss of the individual’s income, there might be expensive medical bills and funeral expenses.

A North Carolina personal injury lawyer might be able to help a family recover damages for their loss. If charges have been filed against the at-fault driver, the lawyer may use this information to persuade the insurance company to pay fair compensation. If the fault is not clear, or the insurance company refuses to pay, the lawyer may request a civil court trial. The lawyer might present the case before a jury on behalf of the plaintiffs.
