2-car crash in North Carolina kills teen

A 19-year-old man was killed and four other people were seriously injured in a two-car accident that took place in Raleigh on Dec. 24. According to a police statement, the deceased victim's 18-year-old sister was behind the wheel when she lost control and crossed over a grass median. A minor was also in the car with the siblings.

Hit-and-run accident kills North Carolina woman

On Dec. 19, a moped was involved in a hit-and-run accident in Charlotte, and one of its two riders died as a result. Authorities reported that a 46-year-old man was later taken into custody in connection with the incident.

1 killed, 2 injured in head-on crash

A 51-year-old woman was killed in a two-car accident that occurred in North Carolina on Dec. 4. The crash happened shortly before 7 p.m., on the southbound side of U.S. Highway 52 nearby Deer Haven Drive. According to local reports, there were six people involved in the accident.

5-car crash kills 2 people in North Carolina

A five-car accident in North Carolina has killed a 44-year-old man and a 73-year-old woman. The crash occurred on Nov. 29 when the 44-year-old man's SUV veered into oncoming traffic and struck four other vehicles. Police have indicated that speed was a factor in the crash that also injured two other drivers.

Forthcoming safety technologies for cars

The highways of North Carolina may grow safer in the near future as modern collision avoidance technologies are developed and deployed on motor vehicles. Some experts on the subject have stated a preference for a legislative mandate requiring the installation and use of some of these new technologies, and they point to accident statistics for support.
