On Behalf of | Dec 19, 2014 | Fatal Motor Vehicle Accidents |

A 51-year-old woman was killed in a two-car accident that occurred in North Carolina on Dec. 4. The crash happened shortly before 7 p.m., on the southbound side of U.S. Highway 52 nearby Deer Haven Drive. According to local reports, there were six people involved in the accident.

Police say that a 17-year-old Albemarle male driving a 2004 model Toyota truck crashed head-on into a 1996 Dodge passenger vehicle. He was headed northbound on Highway 52 when he crossed over into oncoming traffic and hit the Dodge. The impact of the collision forced both vehicles off the roadway. Everyone involved in the crash was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the wreck.

The woman killed in the crash was the wife of the Dodge driver. She was sitting in the backseat of the vehicle on the left-hand side. A 28-year-old female and two minors were also riding in the Dodge when the crash occurred. The two surviving adults in the Dodge suffered injuries, but the severity of the trauma was undisclosed. Officers stated that charges related to the crash are still pending.

Surviving relatives of people killed in auto accidents may benefit from consulting legal counsel about filing a wrongful death claim. A lawyer might look into the facts of a fatal car accident case and help identify any possible forms of negligence that the liable party may have committed. Plaintiffs in these cases could receive compensation that helps account for funeral and burial expenses, medical costs and other ensuing hardships.
