North Carolina passenger says car accident was terrifying

A dramatic video was recently published that shows a North Carolina crash as it unfolds between a streetcar and a motor vehicle. The car accident occurred at approximately 10:30 a.m. on a recent Saturday morning. Involved in the crash, were a sports utility vehicle and a streetcar.

A woman who had been a passenger on the moving streetcar, along with her young children and spouse, said that her family was subjected to two minutes of sheer terror as the streetcar apparently rolled over, then smashed into the SUV. She said that she could not adequately describe how frightening it was to be on a trolley and have no control over the events that were transpiring. Her 2-year-old daughter and 4-year-old son, along with all other passengers on the streetcar, escaped without injury.

The trolley is said to have been traveling at approximately 25 mph when impact occurred. There were 20 passengers on board when the streetcar apparently came to its last stop but failed to open the exit doors. Reports indicate that the vehicle suddenly began to roll and crashed into a sports utility vehicle near a traffic light in the vicinity. The occupants of the SUV suffered injuries, and local emergency services were brought in to aid the victims.

An investigation remains ongoing in this case. In North Carolina, when a driver or passenger of a motor vehicle is injured in an accident caused by another party’s negligence, he or she may file a personal injury claim in a civil court. In a successfully litigated case, a compensatory award may be made that can help offset medical bills or other monetary losses associated with the car accident. A legal representative with experience in vehicular accident cases would be able to guide one through the process of filing and litigating a claim.
