Cause of North Carolina fatal accident still unknown

| Dec 31, 2015 | Fatal Motor Vehicle Accidents |

Only those who have suffered the tragic loss of loved one during the holidays would understand the unfathomable grief associated with such incidents. When a fatal accident in North Carolina was the cause of a family member’s death, the sorrow is intensified. When the accident was caused by another motorist’s negligence, feelings of anger and frustration may accompany grief.

A memorial service was scheduled to be held on a recent Wednesday in honor of a 64-year-old man recently killed in a car accident. The tragedy had taken place on the previous Saturday, when the man was traveling in New Bern. For reasons yet unknown, another motorist careened across the median and smashed into the man’s vehicle head-on. Police have been unable to determine why the 23-year-old driver veered from the southbound to the northbound lane of traffic.

The motorist apparently at-fault in the accident was pronounced dead at the scene. The older man was transported to an area hospital for emergency care. Sadly, he later succumbed to his injuries.

When a North Carolina family receives news that they have suffered the untimely death of a loved one in a fatal accident that was caused by another driver’s negligence, they may want to seek justice on behalf of the deceased. When the person responsible for the victim’s death has also died in the collision, a legal claim can be filed against that driver’s personal estate. Though it is difficult to think beyond the sorrow of a loved one’s death, it often comforts those grieving to know that a successfully litigated case can provide compensation that can help them pay for funeral costs and other expenses associated with the tragedy.
